The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set up a flag program to notify people of the air quality in their area.

 

Below is a chart which shows the colored flags used, and what each color represents. At the KH6ERO office in Aiea, Hawaii, we fly the corresponding EPA Air Quality pennant shown below from our flag pole to alert those in the community of the air quality that day.

Below the flag chart there is a handy chart showing what the Air Quality number in the graph on our Weather Station means.
